Mikel Arteta 4-2-3-1 Tactic with Arsenal in FM 2020

Spread the love

Mikel Arteta took over Arsenal’s hot seat in December 2019 and changed the North London side’s playing style into something interesting. Their game strategy changed too. And the interesting thing is its resemblance to Pep Guardiola’s tactic at City. In this write-up, I am going to share Mikel Arteta 4-2-3-1 tactic I recreated with Arsenal in FM20.

  1. Did you try using Xhaka as a DLP-De with “stay wider”? I think that replicates really well his role. Also because the DLP takes more risks, and Xhaka uses to play long passes. I see a problem with the other DM/CM. I need him to stay more centrally within possession but I dont know how to do that. In attaking phases Arsenal is more like a 2-3-5 I think, with Torreira or Ceballos in the central DM/CM and Xhaka a little bit wider. Really good work by the way. Congratulations.

    1. Thanks mate. Yea i tried the DLP-defend with stay wide instruction but it didn’t allow Xhaka to drop beside the CDs. Plus, it rarely allows him to drop that much when compared to HB role. So the HB role was the closest role to use.

  2. I think I’ve come across some kind of replica of the Xhaka role, as a IWB Defense, pushing the CWB further up. It needs more time to find the best individual instructions but the foundations of what we want are there. It makes the back three with Xhaka covering the left side but being a playmaker too. Also, the tactic ir’s boringly good, good job.

  3. Hello friend, is it possible that they launch the ten hag ajax tiki taka tactic or will the previous one of 2019 work? an updated one would come in handy I’m looking forward to!

  4. Maybe moving David Luiz from DCL to DC can make Xhaka be the left central defender? Perhaps moving Torreira from DMR to DM too? And the DL to WBL? I wanna accomplish that movement because it’s the more interesting thing Arteta did to the team.

    1. I think that’s a good idea. Though it will change the formation to asymmetric. However, if SI could let us influence the formation dynamics by adding more features in the player instructions, setting up tactics would be so much interesting and more realistic.
