The Best FM18 Free Defensive Midfielders to Sign

Last time, I compiled a list of the best central midfielders you can get for free in FM18. So in this post, I’m going to provide free agents who are natural in the defensive midfield position. I have compiled a list of the best FM18 free defensive midfielders you should sign. There’s nothing bad at all in going for free agents. But sometimes it’s tricky to get a good player as a free agent once you start a new save in FM18. However, with you managing a club with poor transfer budget, you have no choice but to go for free transfers.

The List

Players who are present on this list are defensive midfielders. Some of them can play in both AMC and MC positions, but their natural position is DM. In terms of roles, all of them are natural in one or two roles in the DM position.

In terms of age range, I chose 24-35; I observed that this range is where you can find the best and most effective free agents in the DM positing in Football Manager. So, feel free to check them out and make your choice.

But before you dive into this list, you have to know that there’re two players here with issues: Kassio is rule out for 5-7 months due to hamstring injury while Joey Barton is serving a global ban until 1st June, 2018 (here’s why). I wanted to remove both of them on this list but I couldn’t ignore their abilities, and my experiences with them in FM18. They still have something good to offer your team once they return.
