FM21 Tactics: Gareth Southgate 4-2-3-1 Formation with England

I still feel the English team has improved under Southgate compared to their past managers. However, the manager blew up England’s chance to claim the Euro 2020 title because of overthinking. His first mistake was withdrawing to playing negative football immediately after they took up the lead against Italy. That bridged their original playing style and his team paid for it and eventually lost the cup.

Here, in this article, I’m going to replicate the playing style of the English team under Gareth Southgate in FM21. The approach they played against Hungary, in the UEFA World Cup Qualifier, is a good example of Southgate’s playing style. In my save with the English team, we never lost a match and went ahead to win the Euro 2020.
