Xabi Alonso’s Tactics in the UEL Finals | FM24
Xabi Alonso’s Tactics in the UEL Finals. Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen recorded their only loss of the 2023/2024 season, in the finals of the Uefa Europa League title against Atalanta – which they lost 3-0.
In terms of tactics, Xabi Alonso used a 4-4-2 tactic in the first half, with a lineup of Kovar, Tah, Hincapie, Tapsoba, Stanisic, Grimaldo, Frimpong, Palacios, Xhaka, Adli, and Wirtz. In the second half, he switched to a 3-4-2-1 tactic, when Xabi brought in Victor Boniface for Stanisic. In my opinion, Alonso lost the match in the first half, when he decided not to start with a natural striker, as Atalanta defenders were bullying Adli and Wirtz physically, causing them to lose a lot of balls. With that being pointed out, let’s get into the details of the tactic.
