Spread the love

You may be wondering if Torino FC are worth your time and energy to manage in Football Manager 2018. And also, you might be thinking if they are interesting enough to captivate you. Well, no need to keep guessing and thinking. This FM18 Team Guide article may help you decide whether to take over that hot seat or not.

Moreover, in this article, am going to share everything you need to know about the team. The club’s history,  finance, board expectations, team report, squad, youth academy, staff, and dynamics will be showcased.

Brief History

Torino FC is an Italian professional team. It was founded in 1906. The team currently plays in the top tier of the Italian football league system, known as Serie A. However, in 2016/2017 season, Torino finished 9th in Serie A table. This position was a bit of a decline when compared to their 2015/2016 league position, which they finished 7th.

The club’s greatest achievement came in the 1940s, which they won 5 consecutive league titles from 1943-1949. In total, they won 7 Serie A titles, 5 TIM Cups, and 3 Serie B titles. But since 1992, Torino have been struggling to get back to their former glory.

Finance

In FM18, the finance of Torino FC is tagged as Secure. This is good, anyway. But some amount of unnecessary spending by you can get the club banned for 1 season or, at worse, head them to bankruptcy. So, you have to manage things very carefully. And try to win at least one thing for the team, or qualify for any Euro competitions. That would boost the finance a bit.

Debts and Loans

The club owes a debt of £11,143,488. This debt came as a result of the business they made in the summer transfer window. As future transfers, the club will pay £1.8M to Inter Milan and £10.75M to AC Milan. Moreover, a miscellaneous debt of 6M is present, which is anticipated to end in 2025.

Profit and Loss

According to the game’s database, Torino made a profit of £5,189,797 in 2016/2017 season. There was no loss. However, the overall balance is approximately £13.4M.

The FFP regulation allows the club to make no more than a loss of £4.45M within a period of 36 months. But the board anticipate to make a profit of £501K. This shows that if you mismanage things, the club can easily fail the regulation. A one-season ban will activate if things go south.

Budgets

The board left an initial transfer budget of £6.68M (80% of the club’s revenue) with a wage budget of £736K p/w. And from the way things are, the club is already spending £710K p/w on wage. As you can see, these budget won’t attract any high profile player. It might not even satisfy your needs when it comes to strengthen the team. So, it’s going to be a challenge to manage what you have.

The scouting budget is £720K. There are no restrictions in place for scouting. The scouting team can scout any region you want.

Board Expectations

The board want you to acquire a top half finish with the initial transfer and wage budgets. But if you feel you can do better by leading the team to Europa League or Champions League, both the transfer and wage budgets will be increased accordingly.

The board also want you to at least reach the quarter final of TIM Cup. Have in mind that if you choose any level in Serie A, don’t fail to accomplish it. Otherwise, they will sack you before January or at the end of the season. Not reaching the level set for TIM Cup is pardonable.

Although the board don’t require much from you, you still have to check the kind of squad you have before making a decision. If you’re new to football manager, I would recommend you to start with the initial expectations.

Team Report

The team report can be a very important area to check. It can help you choose a suitable tactic for the team you’re managing. It also helps you to get to know the type of squad you have. The team’s weaknesses and strengths are made available for you in the team report.

All positions

From the comparison section (in the screenshot above), all positions are being compared with other teams in the league. As you can see, the team does very well in strength and aggression when you uncheck Goalkeepers. This means that there are a lot of physical players in the team.

The decisions, first touch, and passing are all average. But the teamwork-rank isn’t good enough. So, while choosing a tactic for this team, you have to consider creating something that’s based on physicality. Tiki-taka, high passing game, or other possessive style of football might not work for Torino in Serie A.

Defence Section

From the Defence section, as you can see above, the team has one of the best defensive abilities in the league. They are very good on air.

Midfield section

The midfield section is good but needs improvement. Signing another good creative midfielder will be a good idea.

Attack section

Torino have a very good attacking force. Their attacking force ranks very when it comes to heading, jumping reach, pace, off the ball, and acceleration.

With all these sections summarized, it’s left for you to decide which kind of players to bring in or sell. And most importantly, which kind of tactics to use. You can view the tactic I used with Torino here.

Squad

Torino have a very good squad. You can win the league if you can manage the squad properly; they collectively have that ability. The screenshot above displays the first team squad. A total number of 26 players.

It’s true that in every team, there are some important players who need to be kept happy. The profile screenshots below display the players who might help you achieve your goals with the team. You need to try and take advantage of their talents.

Niang is young and gets a very good potential ability to be your number one winger. He’s really effective.
Iago can be very resourceful
Belotti is a very important player that you don’t wanna lose. He’s really dangerous in the frontline.
Danielle Baselli is the best creative midfielder in the team and he’s young. Make good use of him.
Adem is versatile and has those technical abilities that you really need. Use him well.
Although he’s old, Moretti is really good in defence. He’s a good team leader also. You can make good use of him in your first season.

Loaned Players

First team loaned players and future transfers.

Injuries

Youth Academy

Facilities

The youth academy of this club is good. The provided facilities for growing young talents are also good. However, they have few hot-prospects who are fit to play for the first team. The profile screenshots below show those talents.

Umar Sadiq
Gennaro Ruggiero
Alessandro Coppola
Nicolo De Angelis

Staff

From the staff overview screenshot below, the coaching team of the club is one the best in the league. The team comprises of 12 members. So, you don’t need to worry about the coaching team.

However, the scouting team is poor and lacks a chief scout. This area is where you need to improve. Coming to the medical team, the rank is really poor. The medical team comprises of 7 members, but you have to sack some and add some. This area also needs improvement
