My Real Madrid Tactics Prediction

My Second Real Madrid Tactics Prediction for the 2023/2024 Season | FM23

Spread the love

This will be my second Real Madrid tactics Prediction. In the previous post, I mentioned that Real Madrid could line up in two different tactics without a world-class striker, which are:

  • 4-3-3 Asymmetric Tactic

I will be discussing the 4-3-3 asymmetric tactic in this article since I have touched on the 4-4-2 diamond version in the previous article. Ancelotti might decide to go with a 4-3-3 asymmetric tactic next season, similar to the one he used at the beginning of last season, which had Vinicius as the left winger and Valverde as the side midfielder and this time, Rodrygo will operate as a false-9. Just like the previous post, this is just a forecast of how Real Madrid could line up with the completed transfers so far. With that being pointed out, let’s get into the details.

My Second Real Madrid Tactics Prediction | Tactical Setups

In Possession

They will still start up their plays from behind, with the option to go direct kicks, when the pressure is on them. While playing out of defence, the central defenders would drop close to the goalkeeper inside the 18-yard box. While the fullbacks Fran Garcia and Carvajal, will stay wide and ready to attack. Tchouameni will drop close to the box, but this time Camavinga and Bellingham formed a double pivot above Tchouameni.

Just like the tactic last season, Los Blancos will focus their plays mainly through the left side of the field, due to the dangerous threat Vinicius brings to the opposition defenders. They could use the right side of the field but not often. As they will approach the final third, Real Madrid will look for overlaps on both sides of the field.

In Transition

Tactical settings in transition are the same as the previous version, this difference will be the positions. Vinicius will stay wide at the left flank, Valverde could stay wide or sit narrower at the right side while Rodrygo will operate during central areas or support Vinicius at the left flank.

Out Of Possession

In defensive situations, Los Blancos will stay compact, forcing the opponents outside than inside. The defensive players will also step up the defensive line, to compress the opponent’s half. The fullbacks will try to close down crosses from the opponents.

Real Madrid can defend in a 4-5-1 or 4-3-3 shape. They will press opponents higher, at a much more often pressing intensity. The line of engagement will be higher and they will press to cross goalkeeper distributions. This time, the defensive line will be much higher.

My Second Real Madrid Tactics Prediction | Role Selections

Here, I will discuss the players that will have different roles from the ones of the previous version

CMs

Jude Bellingham will be a box-to-box midfielder. He will contribute greatly to the attacking and defensive phase of the team. With the ball, Bellingham can dribble his way towards the opponent’s box and killer passes to create scoring chances.

Side Midfielder and Winger

Fede Valverde will be a wide midfielder on support duty. He will perform his defensive and attacking duties down the right flank. During attacks, Valverde can stay wider or narrower to receive the ball. With the ball, He can cut inside or run wide to cross the ball. Brahim Diaz will be an inverted winger on support duty.

Vinicius Junior will have the role of an inside forward on attack duty. During attacks, Vinicius will hug the touchline, waiting to receive the ball. He will drift infield from the left flank, looking to create goal-scoring opportunities for himself or his teammates.

CF

Rodrygo Goes will be a false-9. He will drop deep drawing opposing centre-backs out of position, creating gaps and spaces for their teammates to exploit, help the midfield to orchestrate attacks, and get forward to attack the box.

Team Mentality

I use a positive mentality at Home against all teams. I use an attacking mentality, against more formidable teams.

Then on Away matches, I always switch to a balanced mentality.
