FM22 Giovanni Bronckhorst 4-2-3-1: Setup

Build Up

Rangers under Bronckhorst does build-up from behind like most European teams. There is always an option for the goalkeeper to go direct when the pressure is on them. When they build up from behind, they do it in a 2-4-1-3 shape.

The Teddy Bears focus their plays mostly through the sides of the pitch than through the middle. Bronckhorst plays a higher tempo game to be quick and effective, plus they use standard passing directness. In the final third, they look for underlaps at both sides of the field.

Attacking

Rangers attack in a 2-1-6 shape or 2-1-4-3 shape. They attack in a standard attacking width. The light blues equally go for counters on the break when the opportunity presents itself. When they lose the ball, Bronckhorst’s men counter press to win back the ball.

In the final third, Bronckhorst encourages his men to hit early crosses, shoot on sight or work their way into the box.

Defending

Rangers defends in a 4-4-2 shape with a narrow defensive width. They press at a ‘more often’ pressing intensity with a higher line of engagement and a higher defensive line. At times, the team press to close down the goalkeeper’s distributions plus they use offside traps.

Team Mentality

At Home, a positive works but when the team is not getting results, I switch to an attacking mentality.

On Away, a balanced mentality works always.
