Inspired by Mourinho Inter Milan UCL 2009/2010 Tactic: 4-2-3-1

Now the 2021/22 campaign has been concluded, I will continue with my legendary tactics series. So far I have discussed Zidane’s Madrid 2017-2018, Ancelotti’s Madrid 2014 and Luis Enrique’s Barcelona 2015. This time around, I will discuss Mourinho Inter Milan UCL 2009/2010 tactic that fetched him the treble that season.

Mourinho used two tactics in his second season with Inter Milan, the two tactics were:

• 4-2-3-1 Version

• 4-4-2 diamond Version

The 4-2-3-1 tactic was for the champions league while the latter was used in the Serie A campaign. In this post, I will focus on the 4-2-3-1 tactic and the 4-4-2 diamond version will be discussed in my next post. There are similarities between the two tactics and a few differences. So with no further ado, let’s get into the details of the 4-2-3-1 tactic.
